Christmas day

What is it all about?

Celebrating Christmas

Now I don’t want you to think I do not know what Christmas is about, I’m just posing the question to think more deeply about the true meaning behind the day… beyond the festivities.

Christmas is perhaps the best time of the year, it is marked by a celebration that brings people together, brings families closer and at times overcomes all manner of segregation, however, its true significance lies in the birth of Jesus Christ. For Christians all around the world, this day marks the beginning of God's ultimate covenant with humanity—a promise of salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son. Across many cultures, Christmas is more than just a holiday; it is a profound reflection on the gift of Christ and a moment to celebrate the bond believers share with Him.

Growing up, my parents instilled in me the deep importance of this day as a time to honour Jesus' birth and reflect on the covenant we, as Apostolics, have made with Christ. This may differ slightly for you depending on which denomination you belong to. For us, Christmas is not just about festive decorations, gifts, and meals, but about the spiritual significance of the day. It is a reminder that through Jesus, we have been given the chance to strengthen our relationship with God and reaffirm our commitment to His teachings.

Christmas always fills me with a sense of joy and wonder and now that I am a father the experience is multiplied. When I was younger my parents would teach me about the deeper meaning behind the celebrations. The joy of giving, the warmth of family, and the kindness we show to others are all reflections of the love Christ showed us. I hope to teach my daughter these very same things.

As an adult, this message has stayed with me. Christmas, for me, continues to be a time of spiritual renewal and reflection—a time to celebrate the bond I have with Christ and share that love with others.

I wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas day and may you celebrate in whichever manner is befitting to you and yours.

Much love.

News and development

I have finally relaunched my website this year and I am planning on developing and refining it further over the next few months. If you feel so inclined please click the link below and have a look.

I love listening to new music and discovering some amazing sounds, hence I want to start incorporating a new weekly segment of the newsletter, “ The sweet jam journal”. I enjoy all genres of music as much as I do actual jam, so I think it is aptly named. (Well, perhaps with heavy metal music being the only exception. It’s just not my vibe, unfortunately.) Let’s get to it.

The sweet jam journal - the first instalment

This week I came across a song called “What Turns You On” by an artist named Don West. The right amount of soul is embedded in this song, every beat, every lyric, every trumpet note truly reminds me of some of the best blues artists from yesteryear. It’s not a Christmas song, I’d say but what the heck it’s a good song nonetheless. Click on the link below:
